Arizona Governor’s Race | Running out of WATER how is each candidate addressing this issue?
Arizona running out of Water.
The Arizona water shortage in 2021 is just the beginning of an ongoing crisis in the region, as climate change-induced droughts and heat waves have driven water levels at Lake Mead and the Colorado River to plummet.
PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5/AP) — The federal government on Tuesday announced water cuts to states that rely on the Colorado River, including Arizona, as drought and climate change leave less water flowing through the river and deplete the reservoirs that store it.
Arizona Governor’s Race | Running out of Tourists.
40.9 million people visited Arizona in 2021 collectively spending $23.6 billion in the state.
The money spent by visitors supports jobs and generates tax revenue. The $3.4 billion in 2021 tax revenue equals an annual tax savings of $738 for every Arizona household and supported 167,200 industry jobs.
Arizona Governor’s Race | Running out of Electricity.
What happens if Hoover Dam stops making electricity?
In 2021, 99% of Arizona’s total electricity net generation was provided from 6 sources: natural gas (43%); nuclear power (28%); coal (13%); solar energy (9%); hydroelectric power (5%): and wind (1%).
The water elevation in Lake Mead is around 1,040 feet above sea level. At 950 feet, Hoover Dam will be at its lowest point to be able to produce power, according to the US Bureau of Reclamation. Without the dam’s electricity.
Southwest energy suppliers will have to look to fossil fuel energy to fill the void and prices would skyrocket.
If Lake Mead were to keep dropping, the level would eventually approach a danger zone at 895 feet, below which water would no longer pass through Hoover Dam to supply California, Arizona and Mexico.

My personal political opinions are not the reason I chose to write this piece.
When it comes to water, your access to it in the future, and the economic impact it will have on everyone, Arizona is experiencing a significant dilemma.
Both candidates are successful, educated women; one is a seasoned politician and the other has worked in television news.
My connection to Arizona covers many valleys, canyons, rivers, and some pretty cool friends that helped Ethical Fashion Guatemala during the Pandemic we sent Arizona thousands of masks.
