Guatemalan Artisans Copyright Infringement
Ethical Fashion Guatemala suddenly landed in the Spotlight this week with an article in the online Fashion Publication “Fashionista”. A well-respected publication with an interest in Ethical Fashion.

Whitney Bauck wrote the article in Fashionista after numerous e-mails and many questions of our intentions. You know to make sure we were not like those that websites taking the Designs of Guatemalan artisans and copying them.
Of course with media attention, one can always expect those that thrive on-line to always find something negative to say about anything that appears to be doing good for people. Well, we found our-self quickly in that situation.

Facebook, a guy named Rockwell Carr started challenging us on all aspects of the Article, like Trademark and Copyright and Etsy rules it went on. Rick knew nothing about all of the above just a guy wanting to comment and get heard. We blocked him after some time. Sorry, Rick go find someone else to bother. Complete your FB profile might help.
We see our traffic sources on our Ethical Fashion Guatemala Website growing and we find this website stealing our photos to use in an Article about the Weavers of Guatemala fighting the courts for protection.
AHHH please help me understand people.

On the positive side of this media stuff, thousands of page views of the website that represents the Guatemala Artisans as they should be represented. Amazing creative people looking for sales. No sad people sitting on the ground weaving. When you see a website like that using the idea of these poor people as the marketing approach, be sure they are not the best places to buy original Guatemala Artisans Hand Made Products.
We have requested from real people, who one real business, that want to buy products directly from the Guatemalan Artisans we work with. That is the goal of all this to provide information to buyers, both retail and wholesale. Provide the means to reach the Artisans through us providing that technology gap the Artisans are currently lacking, like e-mail, payment systems, and websites.
More articles are forthcoming and we will continue to keep you posted on our progress. Thanks for the positive audience that supports Ethical Fashion Guatemala. I would suggest taking a look at Fashionista a great site about True Fashion News. You know in the world of Fake News.
