San Pedro’s Aussie Burgers, I love great burgers, but a challenge in Guatemala is that we have Burger King, McDonald’s, and attempts by many restaurants and bars around Lake Atitlan to create that perfect burger.
I found myself by accident wandering the streets of San Pedro, across from Sublime, a popular late-night club, I found the No Hay Deer Burger Joint, not sure about the name, run by this mad Aussie, Jay Pitman.
Most Aussies are fun-loving creatures, and Jay is no different, perhaps slightly more extreme. However, his passion for creating San Pedro’s Best Aussie Burger hit home for me. Perhaps the cover photo of Jay might explain his love for Burgers. Look out McDonald’s a new player in Guatemala.
Always cautious in my quest for the perfect burger, I stumbled in one day, loved the burger, great price, fresh add in’s, Jay cooking, and lots of entertainment, and was hooked.
The true test of any Burger for me is consistency, and after several more feasts, I was hooked. Jay also makes some weird and delicious cocktails, creamy and smooth, mixed in a blender, with an Aussie kick.
San Pedro is like a cultural melting pot, one of Jay’s staff kind of fits the mold or ambiance of an English mate cooking San Pedro’s Aussie Burgers, while Jay is off, with energy and stories and also a great passion for cooking a great burger.
San Pedro La Laguna is a small town located on the shores of Lake Atitlán in Guatemala. Lake Atitlán is a stunning volcanic lake situated in the Guatemalan Highlands and is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
The lake is surrounded by three impressive volcanoes – Volcán San Pedro, Volcán Tolimán, and Volcán Atitlán – which add to its picturesque scenery.
San Pedro La Laguna is just one of several charming villages that dot the shores of Lake Atitlán. Each village has its own unique character and attractions, making it a popular destination for both local and international tourists.
