Exporting Cacao EFG and DHL responsibilities to the Shipper and Receiver are:
From the information provided by the shipper, EFG produces the commercial shipping document AWB’s, EFG enters this information into the DHL Platform. DHL ships the shipment to the receiver. EFG and DHL are not customs brokers, the receiver is responsible to comply and pay where applicable duty and taxes, this information is electronically provided to the receiver by electronic means by DHL.
Exporting Cacao Shipment sizes of 10 and 15 kilos of Cacao cannot be sent as gifts, this is not a realistic amount to be considered as gifts by any customs authority.
  • The shipping company and or individual provides EFG with receivers, name, address, email, phone number, the weight of the shipment, and the size of the box the shipment will fit in.
  • Once a shipment is accepted by EFG and entered into the DHL shipping platform EFG responsibilities end for the shipment.
  • The shipment is now assigned to the Company and or Individual you as the shipper has provided shipping information for.
  • The individual receiving a shipment is responsible for accepting delivery of the shipment and when notified by DHL electronic notices, follow the details required including pay duty and taxes where applicable by Country.
  • If the receiver of the shipment fails to reply to DHL notifications and or pays duty and taxes the shipment will be returned.
  • The shipment is then considered abandoned and the shipper will lose all fees paid for the original shipment. No exceptions.
  • EFG cannot provide support in this case as either the shipper or receiver has not followed these guidelines or the receiver is not informed by the shipper of their responsibilities to receive a shipment.
The EU countries are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.

  • The reason for this notice is due to a recent issue with a few clients shipping Cacao to the EU. A number of shipments to the EU have been returned due to the fact that the receiver failed to follow clear directions provided by DHL to accept a shipment and in the case where duty and taxes were applied never responded. Shippers have made claims that the receiver never was notified by DHL this is not true, each step of a shipment, the receiver is notified by the email provided by the shipper.
  • United States shipment of Cacao is not an issue EFG provides the FDA prior notice and all shipments under $800 in value are duty-free to the United States.
