How the Pandemic has drained our emotional strength, time to talk about it.

How the Pandemic has drained our emotional strength, time to talk about it.

Months ago the beginning of millions of an emotional mudslides, without warning suddenly, we found ourselves facing an unknown. For most, we thought it was COVID-19, another version of SARS,

None of us were prepared for entire states closed, millions of unemployed, work at home. How we have children, schools closed. Unemployment benefits increased, thank god for millions, wear a mask do not wear a mask, social distancing.

The media and politicians spend most of their time only confusing us with options, charts, and data. What to do and not to do. I seldom find an article that even mentions the emotional state this Pandemic has left us all to deal with.

Our lives went from freedom, to lock down in our homes for months. We had to learn a new way to survive, how we get food, money from an ATM, no longer we as humans who need social contact and interaction, had none.

How the Pandemic has drained our emotional strength, time to talk about it.

Millions of spouses, children, and lovers separated, unable to travel, borders closed in many countries. Holding on with only a smartphone and WhatsApp, trying to survive, wait this out hoping for the time you can be in each other’s arms again. Which never seems to come soon enough.

The unemployed waiting for the government payment, standing in food lines, most never had before. Small business owners, trying to hang on, can we open or not. The fear of eviction, where can I go, you have no money, the street.

Millions of loved ones, friends, and family have left us.

We have made it this far, the emotional drain is far from over. When we are back, to whatever the new normal this will be the time for emotional recovery.

I find it hard every day to continue to look forward; we must take time, and share in supporting not only our recovery, those around us.
