How you can help the Lake Atitlan Community. The Guatemala government made a wise decision to close the country from the outside world to protect the population from COVID-19. The Lake Atitlan region relies heavily on Tourism, the result of the Government decision has caused a huge economic impact for all.

Textile Co-Operatives around the Lake rely on Tourists for textile workshops, and direct sales of the handcrafted products produced.

Mayan Ceremonial Cacao produced in villages around the Lake. Premium Arabica Coffee production is part of the Lakes economic base.

Boat Captains and Tour guides left with zero income, hotels and resorts have closed leaving hundreds without income.

How you can help the Lake Atitlan Community

Ethical Fashion Guatemala decided to try to help by having local shops and Co-Ops make Masks for protection from COVID-19. We did our research talked with many around the world and went into production.

The first week we sold and shipped 1580 masks with income going directly into the community. We wanted to share our work on Facebook; instead of support criticized false statements from the San Marcos community and many others.

This week Ethical Fashion Guatemala shipped products for export produced at the Lake for the following businesses. San Juan Coffee, Café las Marias, Cross Roads Café, Los Tarrales, Top of the Lake Coffee, Mask produced by Lema Weavers,  Francisco Domingo Tzul Tzul, Mayan Families and Cacao from San Pedro, Thirty-one shipments in total for the week. Direct sales for these producers, Ethical Fashion Guatemala provided the shipping only.
